Depth Conversion
The
LithoTect depth conversion capability also derives from its use of geometry
fields, an implementation that allows exceedingly robust conversion of
interpretations, seismic traces, and images. Interval velocity functions
can be assigned to any combination of interpreted units, and these interval
functions can be used in conjunction with a background velocity field,
itself defined by velocity functions at any number of horizontal locations.
All of the velocity functions can be defined as either Velocity=f(depth)
or Velocity=f(time). The velocity functions can originate from a datum
value, or from a datum horizon (e.g., sea-floor or ground surface).
Once
the depth conversion is completed, the interpretations, seismic, and/or
images can be further analyzed and restored during the validation process.
