The
strain patterns associated with a mixed deformation can be highly complicated.
This example shows the deformation of an initially bedding-perpendicular
grid by mixed vertical/flexural slip with color contoured shear strains.
It's not too difficult to understand why enigmatic patterns of reservoir
porosity/permeability variation exist when looking at deformation models
such as this.
One
of the powers of the LithoTect restoration and forward modeling is its
ability to easily and quickly transform seismic data, images, and/or well
information along with the interpretations.
Seismic
reflector correlations, sequence analysis, and lithostratigraphic investigations
can now be done on the fully restored data constraints, with the effects
of folding and faulting removed.
