Consulting Services

In addition to their work in developing 2D and 3D software analytic tools, the GLS staff have more than 60 years of cumulative experience in applying leading edge structural expertise to consulting and research projects worldwide.

With over 50 clients and project areas ranging from the North Slope to the Southern Ocean, from the Apennines to Svalbard to Yucca Mountain, their experience covers the spectrum of structural problems and terraines including extensional, contractional, strike-slip, salt tectonics, and volcanics.

They have wide experience in strain analysis and rock deformation processes, including the development of fractures and fault systems, and have done field work in the Appalachians, Alps, Apennines, throughout the Rocky Mountain Cordillera, Mexico, Spitsbergen, the Canadian shield, and central Asia.

Brief vitas:

Robert A. Ratliff: Bob received his PhD in structural geology from the University of Colorado in 1992 and has BS and MS degrees in geology from Wayne State University. He was one of the first employees of Geo-Logic Systems Inc., in charge of worldwide consulting projects and GeoSec implementation. From 1992-1998 he was Assistant Director of the CogniSeis Development Boulder Center where his responsibilities included the technical content and marketing of GeoSec, GeoSec3D, and GeoStrat. Bob rejoined GLS in 1998 where he is currently Director of Product Development. He has lectured widely, at various universities and throughout the petroleum industry, on the geometry, kinematics, and interpretation of rock deformation, and is an AAPG instructor for the Workstation Interpretation of Structural Styles course. He was also recently an Associate Research Scientist at the University of Colorado and is active in structural geology research, with over 60 publications.

Catalina Luneburg: Catalina has a wide-ranging structural geology background, including academic faculty and oil industry consulting positions (she recently left Midland Valley). She has authored or co-authored over 60 technical papers, and has multilingual fluency: English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian. Catalina's Ph.D. is from ETH (1996) where she was one of John Ramsay's last students before his retirement.

Peter A. Geiser: Pete received his PhD in structural geology from Johns Hopkins University in 1970. He was an Instructor at SUNY New Paltz from 1969-1971 and Assistant and then Associate Professor at UConn from 1972-1990. From 1990-1992 Dr. Geiser was Vice-President of GLS in Boulder Colorado, Manager of Geological research for CSD from 1992 - 1997, and Imaging Specialist from 1997-1998. His expertise is in the geometry and kinematics of rock deformation mechanisms; he has numerous professional publications and has taught industry short courses in this area. For the past several years Peter's focus has been in the use of seismic emission tomography (SET) for imaging hydraulically linked fracture/fault networks in hydrocarbon reservoirs
